Our Process
Resurfacing a driveway isn’t just about adding new material; it’s about rebuilding a solid, long-lasting surface from the ground up. Our process ensures durability, proper drainage, and a clean finished look every time.
1. Marking & Cutting Borders
We begin by clearly marking out the driveway edges and cutting clean borders. This helps define the shape of the driveway and prevents gravel from spreading into lawns and landscaping.
2. Removing All Organic Materials
Grass, weeds, roots, and other organics are fully removed. Eliminating organics prevents future soft spots, washouts, uneven settling, and also prevents the regrowth of grasses and weeds back into your new driveway.
3. Removing Old Gravel & Reaching A Firm Base
We strip away worn-out gravel and loose material until we reach a stable, compactable base layer. This step is critical for creating a driveway that won’t rut or shift. The base is then shaped, graded, crowned, and compacted for a long lasting foundation.
4. Rebuilding The Base (If Needed)
If the base is too soft or uneven, we add new structural material; typically a larger, well-graded aggregate with binder, or crushed recycled concrete with binder. This creates a strong foundation that supports the top layer.
5. Preparing For The New Surface
Once the base is properly rebuilt and compacted, the driveway is ready for the fresh top-coarse of gravel, ensuring a smooth finish and long-lasting performance.
Why This Matters
Stronger, Longer-Lasting Driveways
A solid base prevents rutting, potholes, and premature wear, giving your driveway greater durability.
Improved Drainage
Proper grading, crown and base structure help water drain away preventing washouts, wash-boarding, potholes, and softer or muddy areas.
Superior Stability
The right base material with binder allows for excellent compaction and long-term structural integrity.
A Clean, Professional Finish
Sharp borders and a properly built surface give your driveway a defined high-quality appearance.
Long-Term Savings
A correctly resurfaced driveway requires fewer repairs over time and with no mark up on materials, you get maximum value from your investment.
